In  1835 the town of Blija had a population of about 1000 people, 900 of whom were members of the Reformed Church. Also ca. 80 Mennonites were living at Blija who were members of the "Holwerd- Blija-Vischbuurt" congregation.
On December 3, 1835 the Christian Reformed Church of Blija was founded by Rev. de Cock at which occasion he baptised the following persons:

- Bokke Jacobs Amelander (58 years of age, carpenter) and his sons Jacob and Jarig,
- Sjoerd, son of Johannes Sjoerds Fennema
- Fopke and Wypkje, twins of Fopke Gerlands Steensma
- Sweitze, son of Johannes Gosses Hansma
- Lieuwe, son of Sjoerd Berends Bekema
- Wopkje, daughter of Sape Martens van der Velde,
- Jan, son of Jan Jans Palma

That same day 13 men and 14 women joined the Christian Reformed Church in Blija, viz:
